Fireworks at Leos Tuesday 5 November
– Bar and food opens at 5pm
– Fire pit & marshmallow toasting at 6pm
– Fireworks at 6:30pm
– Just £2 per person, under-5’s free
Other firework displays are available e.g. Roundhay Park, but you won’t be so near nor will there be food just next to where you’re watching
7pm sessions on 5 November
Choice of
– Advanced & Intermedates – Long Interval Training Session 3 x 10 mins (2½). Open to all runners faster than 30 minutes for 5km.
– Fell runners – Hills Fartlek (road session) with Simon Vallance
For either of the 7pm sessions, meet outside the Olive Branch at the bottom of the Avenue (LS17) at 19:00. Or meet at High Ash Drive 19:20 for Long Intervals

Juniors and Improvers Sessions on WEDNESDAY 6 November

West Yorkshire XC final two races 17 November and 8 December – deadline Friday 8 November
We can still enter people for the last 2 fixtures of the WYXC league (West Park Leeds – Sunday 17th November & Spenborough – Sunday 8th December). If you’d like to run, please pay £10 (adults) or £6 (juniors) to the Payments Account by 3pm Friday 8th November. NB Minimum age for juniors is school year 5.

Valley Striders Grand Prix and Final Parkrun Saturday 9 November
The final parkrun in the 2019 Grand Prix will be Saturday 9 November at Potternewton

Valley Striders AGM Tuesday 26 November
The AGM will be held on the 26th November (subject to availability at Leos).
We will be discussing a change to social membership which requires a vote. You will be able to vote via email or in person at the AGM. More info will be sent later.
The full (adult) membership fees will also be voted on. The proposed fee increases by £3 to £33 per year. This includes £16 EA (increased by £1) and £2 for Northern Athletics (this was subsidised by the club last year however we cannot continue to do this). Club membership will remain the same at £15. The membership fees vote will be held at the AGM and not via email.
We will also be asking for volunteers to join a membership review group to look at how we can make payments easier.
Please do not pay adult membership until after the AGM just in case this changes.
If you want to provide your thoughts on either of the votes please attend the AGM in person.

Indoor Athletics Sunday 1 December
This will be the second of 4 meetings held at the indoor track at English Institute for Sport in Shefffield.
5 VS juniors (Abigail, Evie, Jess, Rafferty and Rebecca) competed in the first meeting on 3 November.

Yorkshire XC Championships Saturday 4 January – deadline Tuesday 3 December
The Yorkshire XC Championships are taking place at Lightwater Valley on Saturday 4th January. The race will be included in the Valley Striders 2020 grand prix. This is open to all 1st claim members who were either born in Yorkshire or have nine months continuous residence in Yorkshire, prior to the date of the race.
Women race just over 8k at 12:50pm and men just over 10k at 2:10pm. This is a really good event and it would be brilliant to see us well represented. If you’d like to run, please transfer £7 to the Payments account with your name and YXC as a reference by 3pm Tuesday 3rd December (this allows us to check your payments and then enter you before the actual race entry deadline)
There are also junior races for age groups U13 (school years 7 & 8), U15 and U17. Same race fee, same payment details.

Northern XC Championships Saturday 25 January
The Northern XC Championships are taking place at Camp Hill, Kirklington, near Bedale on 25th January. Please just put the date in your diary for now. There are races for adults and juniors, minimum age is school year 7.
