Club Handicap on Tuesday 7 May

The Spring Handicap will be held on Tuesday 7th May.  Be at the bottom of Goodrick Lane, Eccup Reservoir for 6:30pm to collect your handicap times so that the clock can start at 6:45pm.  We will be doing the ‘summer’ off road route, weather and volunteers permitting.  We need about 10 people to volunteer to marshal and time-keep so if you can help, please email Sue Sunderland at [email protected]

Note that the minimum age for taking part is 15.

Meanwood Trail Junior Races – Tuesday 21 May (organised by V S)

These races are now open and we have already had 45 entries.

– For competitors

If you’re interested in running, please go to https://www.valleystriders.org.uk/meanwood-junior-races-2019/

Note that fully paid up Valley Striders Junior Members should use discount code “VSJ” to get the race for free.

This event is open to juniors on the waiting list, please enter and pay the £3 entry fee.  Richard and Bob will be available during the evening to talk to prospective junior members and their parents.

– Publicity

This event is open to everyone, please let brothers / sisters / sons / daughters / grandchildren / work colleagues / members of school sports clubs etc know about the races

– Helpers on the night needed

If you’re available to help on the evening (PLEASE!), then use the same link to get information about the race, and just under the map is a link for marshals and a list including all the duties that are available.  We need car parkers from 5:15pm, entry number pick up and entries on the day from 5:30pm, most marshals at 6pm, but we do have a few vacancies for marshals arriving at 6:30pm

I’m hoping some adult club members will help on the night.  Also parents, we can pair you up, e.g. if one of you has a child running in the years 2-4 race and another of you has a child running in the year 7-8 race we can allocate one marshalling space for you to jobshare.

Please email [email protected] if you can help

Bradford Millennium Way Relay (from Myra Jones)

This year’s Bradford Millennium Way Relay is taking place on Sunday 23rd June.  We would like to enter a couple of teams and the club will pay the entry fee.

For anyone who hasn’t done it before, it’s 5 undulating legs of between 8 and 11 miles and each leg is run as a pair. It’s a lovely, scenic route that doesn’t go anywhere near Bradford but instead visits Haworth, Silsden and Ilkley Moor.

If you have any questions or would like to run, please email [email protected]

We would like to sort teams out fairly soon in order to allow plenty of time for recces, so please can you let us know by 3rd May.

There are detailed route descriptions available on the website:

Lineham Farm Beer Festival

We’ve received letters from Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Lineham Farm acknowledging receipt of our donations to them of £111.50 each, which were the profits from the Christmas party raffle.

As an aside, in the letter from Lineham Farm, we’ve been offered 5 free entry tickets to their Beer festival on Saturday 18th May. Contact Mick Tinker [email protected] if you’d like a ticket – first come first served!

Leosfest

This will be taking place Friday evening 17 May and Saturday all day 18 May, see
