Fell Championships update with just 3wks to go

Fell Relays 2024

The VS Fell Championship 2024 is reaching its climax. Seven runners have so far completed at least 5 qualifying races across the 3 distance categories, but there are a few remaining opportunities for others to join them, and to make a dash for the line.

In the Ladies competition, reigning champion Liz Adams leads with way on 394pts, with challenger Aga Felska-Shaker in 2nd on 383pts, having bagged herself 80pts in her first long race, over Soyland Moor. Leila Kara lies 3rd on 321pts.

In the Men’s competition, Mick Loftus looks a near-certain winner on 384pts so far. Simon Vallance and Paul Smith are in a battle for 2nd, on 351pts and 344pts respectively. Dinesh Kaulgud lies 4th with 306pts.

This weekend (Sun 10th), Keith Brewster looks to bag himself a long one at Saltergate Gallows, while the Wadsworth Half Trog is another weekend option, for those who like their bogs slightly shorter. On Sat 16th, there’s the Tour of Pendle but also Harriers v Cyclists, for those who really do need to be able to walk downstairs at some point over the next few days. Sarah Shanks – it’s in your interest to enter that one…
[Please note that Mytholmroyd on Sun 1 Dec falls into the 2025 season.]
