Saturday 10th September 2022 saw the return of the Meanwood Valley Trail race after a break of three years. At 9:30, after a briefing and a minute of silence in respect to the Queen and her family, almost 200 runners set off from our new start line in front of Old Leo’s clubhouse and into Adel Woods, along the Meanwood Valley Trail and into Meanwood Park. One runner remarked upon returning, “You really do run along every type of terrain in this race!”
The first male finisher was Benjamin Douglas of Leeds City Athletics Club in 45:29
The first female finisher was Charlotte Knowles of Wakefield District Harriers and Athletics Club in 51:58.

A huge thank you to all the people who were involved in organising the race: Leo’s Rugby Club for letting us use the clubhouse and pitches, Vie Medic for providing first aid, Race Best and Even Splits for dealing with entries and setting up chip timing, Saltaire Breweries for the mementoes and the many volunteers who marshalled and helped out on the day. Without you it wouldn’t have been possible. There was a great deal of praise for the marshals and their cheerful encouragement as people finished the race:
“Thank you to all the team behind today’s race, an excellent event! All the marshals gave great support, much appreciated”
We are looking forward to seeing many runners returning for next year’s race.
