I’d heard great things about the Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool weekend and the 25th/26th May was certainly no disappointment. I was one of three Striders who had made the decision to do Liverpool rather than Edinburgh, two of us, Sue Sunderland and myself opting for the half and Steve Dixon going in the marathon.
Race day started with the half leaving at 9am and the marathon at 10am. Sue shot round the city and park undulating course in 1hr 41:36 and that bagged her first in age group! I paced myself round and bettered my PB by 9 minutes.
The last 3 and a half miles were the same for both distances and the weather was challenging to say the least. This did not deter Steve who was clearly a man on a mission and posted 3hr 50:10, this gained him second in age group with a probable GFA London bonus. Liverpool, you were fantastic!
