Having never been to Salford, and also a newbie to Club road races, I turned up very early to collect my number for the Salford 10k on Good Friday. Salford Harrier volunteers were a slick unit and I was in and out of the Sports Village quickly and decamped back to the car to do number pinning and other necessary pre-race faffing. There were only three other Striders booked on and I added to the contingent to make up a vets only Club entry.
The photos on the Harriers web site showed rain in 2018; this year was going to be the polar opposite as the temperature started to climb to a basking 24 degrees C pre-start. John Hobbs finished in 33.32 (24th overall/5th in M40 class), followed by Kevin McMullan in 40.19 (11th in M50 class) and Anna Milburn finished in 49.53 (6th in her class). I’ll gloss over the fact that I struggled at this double lap event but made it to collect the event unique drink coaster.
