From VSGP coordinator: Alan Hutchinson.
How swiftly the year marches on. We’re now just over half way through the Grand Prix competition year and already 6 ladies and 14 men have completed 8 or more GP events putting them in contention for a prize. A further 5 ladies and 12 men have run 6 or 7 GP events.
Currently leading the ladies’ scores is Sam Harris on 798 points, followed by Rachel Davidson 786 and Steph Gledhill 762. The men’s competition is led by Paul Grave on 785, followed by Jon Jackson 752 and Paul Smith 749. Have a look at the latest standings for your current score and position. You may be leading your group or age category.
Q. I joined Valley Striders last year but still appear to be shown as U. When will you put me in a GP group?
A. U is uncategorised. We will be able to put you into the appropriate group A-G based on your best race pace when you have completed in 4 races over measured distances or 8 park runs during the previous or current GP season. This is to ensure we have reliable data to determine the correct group you should be in.
The following runners only need one more race to be put into a group:
Kat O’Mahony, Jade Beale, Carole Reid and Alex Kelly.
The Grand Prix events are listed here. Upcoming events are:
Hyde Park Summer Mile – 28th June
Danefield Relay – 4th July
Eccup 10 – 9th July
Ilkley Half Marathon – 16th July
Golden Acre Park Relay – 18th July
Valley Striders Summer Handicap – 20th July.
Lots to go at!
Happy Running
