The Yorkshire XC Championships took place at Lightwater Valley on 5th January. A well drained course that weaved around a relatively small area proved popular with both runners and spectators. We managed to field A and B teams in both the Women’s and Men’s Senior races.
The Women’s 8,140m race took place early afternoon and we had 9 women representing the club. Our A team finished 9th and B team finished 24th out of 32 complete teams. The top two counters for the A team were both making their Valley Striders’ debut. Welcome to the club Jihanna and Bethan!
The Men’s 10,150m race was the last event of the day and all 12 VS runners just about finished in daylight. The A team coming in in 10th place and the B team 33rd out of 37 complete teams.

The Northern XC Championships are taking place on Saturday 25th January at Camp Hill, Bedale. We have 18 senior and 10 junior runners entered, so please come along and support if you can. The course information and timetable can be found in the link below (course map at bottom of page). This is subject to change, especially if there is a lot of rain this week. Final updates will be made on Wednesday so please check the information at the end of the week.
